Sorbents – Classification by Color and Shape

Sorbents are used to neutralize hazardous substances and prevent environmental contamination. Universal are sorbents in the form of granules, they are most often used to neutralize contamination from uneven surfaces. On the other hand, the division by color looks as follows:
Yellow-colored sorbents are designed for aggressive and unidentified substances. They are perfect for laboratories, factories and warehouses.
Blue sorbents are used for neutralizing oils and petroleum-based substances. These sorbents do not absorb water, so they work well for absorbing contaminants from it.
Gray-colored sorbents, on the other hand, are used to absorb industrial liquids, oils and petroleum and water. They are not suitable for aggressive chemicals.
White sorbents have the same use as blue ones.
Once you know the division of sorbents by color it is time to choose the right shape. Sorbent in the form of a mat is ideal for use under machinery and equipment from which a leak can occur. Sorbents in a roll are irreplaceable for large areas. Sorbent cushions are used under machines that drip continuously. Sorbent in the form of a sleeve/hose is used for large machine spills. Loose sorbent, as we mentioned earlier, is ideal for collecting substances from cracks and uneven surfaces.
