Big bags (FIBC flexible containers)
A big bag (FIBC — flexible intermediate bulk container) is a large-format pack made of woven polypropylene (PP) for transporting and storing bulk materials — aggregates, sand, grain, feed, seeds, granulates and waste. Fitted with lifting loops for handling by forklift or crane, it is durable and, in the reusable version, suitable for repeated filling.
How to choose a big bag?
Four parameters matter: the load capacity (approximately up to 1000–1500 kg), the number of loops (1, 2 or 4), the filling and discharge method (open top or filling spout, flat bottom or discharge spout) and the liner (with a polyethylene liner for hygroscopic materials or without). Single-use and reusable bags differ in their safety factor (SF).
Types and parameters
| Feature | Options |
|---|---|
| Material | woven polypropylene (PP), UV-stabilised |
| Load capacity | approximately up to 1000–1500 kg |
| Loops | 1, 2 or 4 |
| Top | open, with skirt or with filling spout |
| Bottom | flat (closed) or with discharge spout |
| Liner | with a polyethylene liner or without |
Exact load capacity, dimensions, spout type and safety factor are given in the product cards.
Applications
Big bags work well in construction (aggregates, sand, rubble), agriculture (grain, feed, seeds, fertilisers), the chemical and food industries (granulates, bulk raw materials) and in waste management. They fold flat, so they take little space before filling.
Frequently asked questions
What is a big bag?
It is a large-format flexible container (FIBC) made of woven polypropylene with lifting loops, used to transport and store bulk materials.
What load capacity does a big bag have?
Approximately up to 1000–1500 kg depending on the model and safety factor. Exact values are given in the product cards.
Are big bags reusable?
There are single-use bags (SF 5:1) and reusable ones (SF 6:1). The version is matched to how it will be used.
How is a big bag filled and emptied?
Through an open top or filling spout, and emptied through a flat bottom or discharge spout — depending on the model.
What material are big bags made of?
Woven polypropylene (PP), usually UV-stabilised, resistant to tearing and moisture. A polyethylene liner is used for hygroscopic materials.
